Counters, FormMail, and DreamBook

Three of the goodies DreamHost offers are not accessible using Control Panel. Both FormMail and Counters have no set-up process, only code to include in your pages. You can set up your own guestbook at http://www.dreambook.com.

Flash Media Player

MySQL

As of January 2006, all new MySQL databases are MySQL 5! What is MySQL? See Overview of the MySQL Database Management System and the rest of the MySQL 5 manual for help.

Htaccess/WebDAV

This area allows you to set up password-protected and WebDAV directories using .htaccess.

Secure Server

If you have your own unique IP address, you can use this section to set up your secure server.

Jabber IM

What is Jabber? See the Jabber Overview on Jabber.org. Want to use it? Check out Jabber Clients on a LAN.

Subversion

Streaming

One-Click Installs

With one click, you can install (and now upgrade) any of the software listed below. See also: KB / Account Control Panel / Goodies :: One-Click Installs. In the Getting Started pages there is an over view of the available One Click Installs. There are detailed instructions on how to install Joomla! in the Joomla! article, Install Joomla! section, which apply mutatis mutandis to the other software also.

DreamHost does not provide technical support for this software beyond the initial installation. For technical support, contact the software authors at the official sites linked below.

FrontPage

Decommissioned!

Effective June 30, 2006 the Microsoft FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions for UNIX have been End-of-Lifed. That means that they will never be upgraded in the future to support things like Apache2, for example.

FrontPage Extensions may work now, however DreamHost strongly discourages the use of them and reserves the right to stop offering this feature in the future.

Cron Jobs

Manage periodic scheduled tasks.

Cron is a way of performing scheduled tasks on UNIX systems. Each entry in a user's "crontab" file is called a "cronjob". Our interface allows you to manage your cronjobs without having to get your eyes dirty! It also co-exists well with cronjobs you may have created by hand!

To manage Cron Jobs from the Control Panel, go to Cron Jobs
