Switch domains between users
You can move a domain from one user to another user that is in your account. By doing this the user you switch the domain to will be the only user that will be able to access this domain.
(If want to access this domain, just use that particular users username and password to access it)
to change the domain user just login to your Web Panel > Domains > Web or click here, select edit for the domain you would like to switch. In the section that says "A Fully Hosted Domain" you will see a drop down menu for the "CGI" user. From here select the user you would like to control this domain. See picture below.

Once you have select the desired user select "Save Web Service" at the bottom of the page. With in 30 minutes to and hour you should see a new directory in the selected user's account with the name of the domain you moved to their account.
You can now begin uploading the site.
Which top-level domains do you host?
I noticed you only register .com, .org, .net, and .info domains. Are these the only top-level domains you host as well?
Although at this time we only register domains with the extensions .com, .org, .net, or .info, you can use our hosting services to host any top-level domain that you own. If you want to transfer your .tv, .co.uk, .jp or any other domain to our servers, feel free!
If you receive the following error while trying to add the domain to your hosting service: Invalid domain: "xx" is not a valid TLD for a domain!. - check the spelling and try again. If you still can't add the domain, let our support techs know, and we'll add your tld to our database, so you can host your domain with us.
If I don't host my site with you, why should I have a user account?

What is DNS?
DNS (Domain Name Service) tells your computer which IP address (eg;'123.45.67.89') to go to when you type in a domain name (eg; 'www.newdream.net') --- so that we mere humans don't have to remember all those numbers.
When getting a web hosting account, there are two things you have to do in order to make sure that your domain name's DNS is set up correctly, and that the ip number is on our network:
- Make sure the domain is registered.
- Make sure that its dns servers are:
- ns1.dreamhost.com 66.33.206.206
- ns2.dreamhost.com 208.96.10.221
- ns3.dreamhost.com 66.33.216.216
I just signed up and my domain is not up yet! What's going on?
Generally, it takes at least 24 hours after you register your domain before it is available on the web. But don't worry --- as soon as you submit the registration request, your domain will be reserved, and no one else will be able to register it.
It takes a little while for the new DNS information to reach all the servers across the Internet, but even if your domain isn't available on the web, you can still upload your site via FTP by connecting to server.dreamhost.com.
Transferring an existing domain sometimes takes as long as 3-5 days. However, if it seems that an unreasonable amount of time has passed since signing up, and your domain still isn't available on the Internet, please feel free to contact our Technical support team:

Can I get an email address @myowndomain.com?
Yes, all of our hosting plans come with at least twenty-five POP3/IMAP email accounts.
In addition, your monthly fee includes unlimited email addresses. You can have them go directly to a DreamHost email account, or forward your email to webmail or other non-Dreamhost mail accounts.
Can I sign up for a domain name before getting a plan with DreamHost?
If you want to register a domain through DreamHost, you must have an active DreamHost account.
If you don't want hosting, you can sign up for our free domain parking plan. Whether or not you park your domain with us, you can take advantage of our Web Panel, which allows you to add or subtract services at any time.
If you have already registered a domain through a different registrar, you can transfer your domain to DreamHost after having opened a DreamHost account.
How long does it take for changes to become active?
It should take about 15 minutes to an hour for changes made at the web panel to become active. The time varies from service to service!
